Ondo: Why I raped 8months Pregnant woman —Pastor

A 56-year-old prophet, Pastor Festus James, who claimed to be a prophet, confessed to the rape of an eight-monthpregnant woman in the village of Agbabu near Ore in the Odigbo local government area in Ondo state.

James made the confession while speaking with newsmen Thursday in Akure, after being paraded along with six other suspects for various crimes by police public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami.

According to him, I came to Agbabu town for a three-day awakening but on the second day of the awakening, the girl’s parents came to meet him for spiritual help for their daughter.

“So I asked her parents to take her to the river for purification, and I don’t know how she came to meet me at the place one of the villagers had given me for revival.

“I don’t know how we had sex and immediately when I had sex with her I started crying because I was wondering how it had happened.

“I won’t lie, I slept with her, but I didn’t force her. I know it was the devil who wanted to dishonor me where people respect me, ”he said.

Earlier, Odunlami explained that James was arrested on November 13, 2021 and said the suspect claimed the Holy Spirit ordered him to hold a 3-day Holy Spirit revival at a village church.

“Festus James, originally from Ibadan in Oyo State, traveled to Agbabu village via Ore, claimed to be a prophet and that the Holy Spirit commanded him to have a revival of the Holy Spirit of 3 days in a village church.

“The next day the Prophet claimed to have seen a vision of a 22-year-old woman who was 8 months pregnant and told her to wait until after the program.

“He took the pregnant woman to one of the rooms in the mission house under the pretext of delivering her from an evil spirit and had carnal knowledge of her,” she said.

The PPRO called on members of the public to be wary of those around them and said the suspect would be charged in court after investigation.
