Outcome of Labour, Ondo Govt’s meeting on Salary revealed

By: Oluwatosin Adesola

The outcome of yesterday’s meeting between labour leaders and representatives of the Ondo state government over payment of outstanding salaries has been revealed.

SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the meeting which lasted for three hours, was at the instance of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and presided over by the state Head of Service, Dare Aragbaiye.

SALARY MATTERS AFFECTING PART 2.

You will recall that Labour met with Government twice last week and the outcome of the meeting was communicated accordingly.

Further to the above therefore, another meeting was called at the instance of the Head of service on Tuesday 2nd March,2021 and the meeting was competently attended by Leadership of Organised Labour, Chairmen and Secretaries of affiliated Unions, NMA, NAGGMDP, MDCAN and NARD.

The meeting reviewed again the previous submissions of Government vis-a-vis another presentation which revealed the readiness of Government to pay the outstanding 50% balance of November,2020 NOW and certain percentage of December 2020 salary BY NEXT WEEK. Labour rejected this outrightly.

After careful study and extensive discussion on the realities of the facts before us with a view not to jeopardize the interest and welfare of our respected members, Labour agreed to the following ;

(i) That, payment of the 50% balance of November 2020 salary is non-negotiable.

(ii) That, the offer of government to “look inward” in the bid to get more money for the payment of “something” for December,2020 was welcomed.

(iii)That, the payment of both the November 50% balance and “certain percentage” for December 2020 salary by next week was also agreed to as “number two of something is better than number one of nothing”

(iv) That, we appeal to our members and appreciate their endurance and patience till next week when salaries will be paid according to the state government

Finally, we wish to restate our commitment and allegiance to the welfare of our members.

These are trying times that we shall surely overcome.

Signed
