774,000 FG’s Special Public Works flagged-off in Ondo

The Executive Chairman, Irele Local Government, Hon. (Barr.) Olusegun Ajimotokin has extolled the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for implementing the Special Public Works programme, urging beneficiaries of the programme in Ondo State and Nigeria at large to be result oriented.

The federal government had introduced the 774, 000 Special Public Works (SPW) jobs for all the local government areas in the country to engage and empower youths for a first period of three months.

While the programme has kicked off in some local government areas, it is yet to begin in many.

However Speaking at the flag off of the programme yesterday in the area, Hon. Ajimotokin advised beneficiaries not to jeopardise the objectives of what the programmes is meant for adding that the programme was designed by the federal government to promote mass employment strategies through the attachment of qualified graduates to willing employers of labour for skills upgrading, during which permanent employment or self-employment may be secured.

According to Ajimotokin, all the tools and equipment required has been provided, adding that the FG expected strong commitment from all stakeholders in ensuring efficient implementation.

He assured that the Local Government under his leadership would partner with the State Selection Committee of Extended Special Public Works to monitor beneficiaries in carrying out the programme patriotically urging participants to be law-abiding in order to maximize the opportunities given to them.

The Chairman of the State Selection Committee in Ondo State, Mrs. Olubumi Ademosun emphasized on the need for Youth in Irele Local Government to work towards making themselves self independent adding that the purpose of the programme must not be defeated.

She thanked the people of Irele Local Government for showing readiness towards making the programme meaningful.

In the flag off of the programme were: the Vice Chairman, Irele Local Government, Hon. Jide Akinfe, His Royal Highness, Oba Olorunsola Akinyelure, the Odogbo of Omi, High Chief Olomoekugbe Oloruntunsin, the Gbogunron of Irele Kingdom, Hon. Mrs. Morenike Ajimotokin, members of State Selection Committee of the Extended Special Public Works among others.
