Ondo 2020: How my campaign committees should solicit votes for me —Akeredolu

Ahead of the October 10 governorship election, the Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, today inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign committee, challenging members of the Committee to stress on his administration’s giant strides in all sectors to canvass for votes from the people of the state to secure his re-election as governor of the state.

Akeredolu gave the charge during the inauguration of the committees for his re-election held at the International Culture and Event Center (DOME) in Akure, the state capital.

The committees ranged from Voting unit canvassers, the campaign council, civil society and support groups, medicals, youth and students mobilisation, legal matters, logistics and administration, to financial and resource allocation where the minister of state for the Niger delta, Senator Tayo Alasoadura served as the chairman.

Others are women mobilization, strategy and planning, protocol, contact and mobilization, special interest, strategy and development communications as well as media publicity where the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo appointed as the Chairman.

Akeredolu who urged the 957 -member council to move to the hinterlands to explain the significance of the people at the grassroots the various interventions projects initiated and executed by his government, with a pledge to bring governance closer to the grassroots.

He said his government would embark on physical projects to provide facilities which would contribute to improving the economic status of individuals at the grassroots.

Akeredolu who expressed delight over hitherto supports he had derived from the party’s Leadership, enjoined every APC member to be alive to his campaign responsibility

The governor also encouraged the committees including other party members to support one another to win unit by unit in the October governorship election.

Addressing the gathering, the state party chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin encouraged the committee members to tolerate one another and to work as a team to emerge victorious in the governorship election

In their goodwill messages, two former deputy Governors, Alhaji Ali Olanusi and Abdulasis Oluboyo charged the committees to make sincerity their watchwords for the victory of the APC candidate.

Also speaking, Chief Olusola Oke and Mr Isaac Kekemeke who were both co-aspirants with Governor Akeredolu implored the committee members to start canvassing in favour of APC transparently, noting that the party had all it takes to win the election

We can’t throw away experience for experiment – Oke

In his goodwill message, a co aspirant, Chief Olusola Oke described the inauguration as history, saying that all the gladiators within the APC and the state are with the governor for his re-election.

Oke said the state can not afford to throw the rich experience of the governor away in place of experimentation, saying the party must retain governance.

He maintained that “the success of governor Akeredolu in the coming election would determine whatever anyone of us and the party will become in future.

We can’t afford to fail and go to opposition — Kekemeke

Also, another aspirant, Hon lsaacs Kekemeke said the party can not afford to fail with the arrays of leaders it parades in support of the governor’s re-election.

Kekemeke said that ”ln this coming election, we cannot afford to fail and go to the opposition. Its too early to retire now for many of us.

”We should work assiduously to make sure that the People’s Democratic Party lose their deposit in politics.”
