The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ondo State chapter, has alleged its only elected federal lawmaker, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye fondly called Small Alhaji, representing the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the National Assembly of plotting to unleash a range of attacks and assaults on the leadership and properties of the party in the state.
In a press statement, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon Gbenga Fasua, SDP expressed sadness that Hon Adefisoye who is expected to provide exemplary leadership in the party, will allegedly toe the path of violence, following his failure to field a governorship candidate for the party through the backdoors for the October 10, 2020, gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
The state chapter of the party had been engulfed in an internal wrangling which led to two factions in the chapter and led to emergence of two governorship candidate for October 10, 2020 election.
The statement reads, “It has come to the notice of the leadership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ondo State, that Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye fondly called Small Alhaji, a member of the party, representing the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the nations Assembly in Abuja, has concluded plans to unleash a range of attacks and assaults on the leadership and properties of the party in the state.
“It is saddened and unfortunate that Small Alhaji, who is expected to provide exemplary leadership to the party, will toe the path of violence, following his failure to field a candidate for the party through the back door for the October 10, 2020, gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
“It would be recalled that the National Working Committee of the party had on Thursday, July 23, 2020 conducted the primary election for the party in the presence of the officials of INEC and the representatives of the national leadership of the party, where Honourable Peter Fasua emerged the flagbearer of the party.
“The name of Hon. Peter Fasua, had since been submitted to the INEC and accepted by the election umpires.
“It would also be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, did not honour the submission of the name of one Saliu Adekunle which was taken to INEC by Small Alhaji himself.
“Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye (smallAlhaji) had, twice, attempted to forcefully and illegally shut down the ondo state party office, and thwart the meeting of the State Working Committee.
“Thanks to the security agents in the state for standing up to maintain the existing peace in the state.
“The leadership of the party is also aware of another attack and threat by Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye to forcefully shut down the State Secretariat in Akure, tomorrow, July 30, 2020.
“We, therefore, inform all party members and the general public that the national and the state leaderships of the party will not rest on their oars to resist any form of attack from Small Alhaji or any other individuals.
“We urge all our members and supporters to continue to repose their confidence in the Hon. Dele Ogunbameru-led state leadership of our great party,” the SDP spokesman said.
Reacting, the federal lawmaker, Adefisoye said “As the leader of the party, after the court ruling that the status quo should be maintained by both national parties in court. That ruling dissolves the illegal CTC automatically.
“And as the leader of the party That paid for the same secretariat since 2019. It is my responsibility to handover the state secretariat back to the Authentic SWC .
“So it is just a party affair. If the CTC feels they are too big to respect the court ruling. They can as well float another secretariat. But if they still want to be part of the party. The secretariat is open to everybody,” Adefisoye said.
