PDP primary: Ondo Dep Gov reacts to Jegede’s victory

The first runner up in the just concluded PDP governorship primary in ondo state, Agboola Ajayi (Ondo state Deputy Governor) has reacted to the outcome of the exercise.

Chairman of the Primary Election committee and Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi while announcing the winner of the pdp’s primary election held in Akure said Mr Jegede polled eight hundred and eighty-eight (888) votes to defeat his closest rival and the state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, who recorded six hundred and fifty seven (657) votes

Other contestants in the election, a former PDP National Vice Chairman (Southwest) Dr Eddy Olafeso polled one hundred and seventy five (175) votes, a former House Of Representative Member, Dr Bode Ayorinde scored ninety five (95) votes, Mr Banji Okunomo got ninety (90) votes while Senator Boluwaji Kunlere garnered thirty three (33) votes.

Others are, Chief Sola Ebiseeni who had twenty nine (29) votes and Prince Godday Erewa with fourteen (14) votes in the keenly contested primary, while Sixty four invalid votes were recorded out of two thousand and eleven delegates.

However reacting, the Deputy governor described the primary as a good fight.

In a statement by Allen Sowore, his Media Adviser, Ajati noted that, “the people have spoken, and we accept the outcome in good faith, knowing fully well that it was a race against different forces.

“We remain undaunted and resolute about our commitment to a people oriented government against personalised democracy. We wish the good people of Ondo State and the winner the best as we March on. For us, life goes on,” Ajayi said.

Following the outcome of the Primary election of our party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), held on 22nd July,2020, where Eyitayo Jegede SAN, was elected winner, we wish to thank the good people of Ondo State for standing with us in the struggle to liberate our State.

The people have spoken, and we accept the outcome in good faith, knowing fully well that it was a race against different forces.

We remain undaunted and resolute about our commitment to a people oriented government against personalised democracy.

We wish the good people of Ondo State and the winner the best as we March on. For us, life goes on.
