The Remains of the Ondo State commissioner for health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro have been laid to rest according to Islamic rites today.
Late Adegbenro was buried in his hometown, ilara Mokin in ifedore local government area of the state.
The burial rites were performed by a team of muslim Clerics led the Chief Iman of Akure, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Yayi Akorede.
In his words of admonition, Alhaji Akorede described the late Adegbenro as a selfless, kindhearted and hardworking man.
While saying the deceased was a hero having died in the process of healing others, the cleric charged people to always leave good memories with whoever they come in contact with.
The burial was witnessed by top government functionaries, civil servants and other residents of ilara mokin who wept uncontrollably.
All measures put in place to ensure social distancing protocol were ignored as families and friends clustered around the grave amid tears and wails to have a glimpse of the body of late Dr Wahab adegbenro as it was being lowered into the grave by health officials who were clad in personal protective equipment.
Aged sixty five, Dr Adegbenro passed on yesterday from complications of covid19.
Meanwhile, today was observed as holiday in Ondo state in honour of the late commissioner while flags are to fly at half mast for seven days.

The Chief Executive Officer of the KLICK KONNECT NETWORKS and Manager, Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub, Ore, Chief Alex Oluremi Ajipe, has joined prominent Nigerians to condoled Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, people and government of Ondo state over the sudden departure of the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, describing the death as a big blow.
In a condolence message, Ajipe also described late Adegbenro as a firm man and stabilizer.
The CEO opined that, “this death has dealt us a big blow this time. I still can’t come to term with the demise of a gentleman per excellence a stabilizer and a firm man, Dr Wahab Adegbenro our commissioner for health ondo state.
“More so that I had reason to speak with him on phone just this last Saturday. My heart of condolences goes to his family,colleagues and Mr Governor, our dear arakunrin Akeredolu for the emergency exit, painful lost of an icon and dependable ally. May allah forgive him and grant his soul a peaceful rest in aljannah fidaus,” Ajipe said.

THE DEMISE OF DR. WAHAB OLUROPO ADEGBENRO; A DEATH TOO MANY.
I received the sudden demise of my dear brother, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro with a rude shock.
Your untimely death is a monumental loss to me, the people of Ondo State and the nation at large.
You are such a great philanthropist, exceptionally brilliant and a dedicated medical practitioner who dedicated his active life to the service of mankind.
It is regrettable that you have to pay the supreme price in your effort to save lives amidst the ravaging covid-19 Pandemic.
I am personally endeared to your exceptional political lifestyle. You played politics without bitterness and rancour. Even in death, you remain a hero.
I wish to commiserate with the family of my beloved Egbon. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
This is indeed a trying time.
I equally share in the grief of the good people of Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, Nigeria and the Medical world. May Allah grant our departed brother Aljana.
