As ondo state deputy governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi concludes plans to officially defect to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) tomorrow from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he has been reportedly stopped by security agents from moving his property from the Government House Ground, Alagbaka in Akure.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the deputy governor and some personal aides allegedly came to the Government House this evening to move his property out ahead of his political journey to contest the October 10 governorship election against his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Agboola is expected to declare to the PDP tomorrow at his ward in his home town Kiribo, Ese-Odo local government area of the state to enable contest the gubernatorial race.
The governor and his deputy had been on a running battle over irreconcilable political differences causing over a year cold war.
It was however learnt that the security agents led by the Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami were said to have politely stopped Agboola from moving the property because it was already late and he should come back tomorrow to relocate the property.
It was gathered that the security agents refused the deputy governor to move the property on the order of the Governor’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) who allegedly urged Agboola to come on a broad daylight tomorrow to enable the securitymen seperate government’s property from Agboola’s personal property.
A reliable source told SUNSHINETRUTH that “the CSO politely advised the D’Gov to come back tomorrow to move his property because it was already late today. The CSO said it will enable them to separate official property from his personal property, that is why they stopped him.”
“So we are expecting him (Agboola) to come again tomorrow for his personal property.”
When contacted, a security man who preferred to speak anonymously because he was not permitted to speak with the press, confirmed the incident.
There are indications that the deputy governor may not resign from his office.
However when contacted on telephone by SUNSHINETRUTH, the Special Assistant on New Media (office of the Deputy Governor), Comrade Allen Sowore described the narration as incorrect and unfounded.
He said no securitymen could stop the deputy governor as he still enjoys immunity as an incumbent.
“The deputy governor is even there now (as at 9:06pm today), the rumour or the information is not correct. The deputy governor enjoys immunity, no security man can stop him or the governor because of their immunity. Don’t mind them, the information is not correct,” Sowore said.
Also, the deputy governor’s Aide issued a press statement to dismissed looting of government’s property.
“I have read with amazement the news report alleged looting of the Government properties by aides of State Deputy Governor’. The report is part of the grand plan to blackmail and put the office of the Deputy Governor into disrepute for political gain.
“For the avoidance of doubt let me state it clearly that NO aide of the Deputy Governor loot or attempt to loot any property belonging to the state government.
“The Deputy Governor, has further directed Government security agents to thoroughly search any of his aides when going in and coming out of the Government House,” Sowore said.
