2020 Guber Primaries: Sola Iji Group kicks over plot to doctor Ondo APC Register by Exco

A political group SOLA IJI GROUP working for the aspiration of Ambassador Sola Iji to become the governor of Ondo state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised alarm over plot by the state chapter of the party to alter the membership register with names of new members.

The group was reacting to a petition written by a another group to the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over the issue.

The Sola Iji group in a press statement signed by its Director of Media Services, Hon Sola Aregbesola said the act of trying to tamper with the membership register was an attempt to subvert the political will of Ondo APC members ahead of the governorship primaries slated for July 20.

The ondo state governorship election holds on October 10, 2020 and the Nigerian High Commissioner to Togo, Ambassador Sola Iji is one of the leading APC aspirants in the state.

Another political group with the party had early this week raised alarm over plot by the state chapter of the APC to doctor the membership register by recruiting fresh members ahead of the July 20 governorship primaries of the party in the state.

Iji Group specifically alleged that the Ade Adetimehin led exco of ondo APC had allegedly compelled leadership of the party both at wards and local governments levels to generate imaginary names into the party’s register ahead of the October 10 governorship election.

The group tasked the national leadership of the APC to stop the move to subvert the democratic process ahead of the governorship primaries.

However reacting, the State Director of Media and Publicity of APC in Ondo state, Mr Steve Otaloro, said the allegation by Iji group was laughable, noting that the register with the national secretariat of the party would be used for the party’s primaries.

Otaloro said the Adetimehin-led exco was too informed to be engaging in such act.
