…..insist Oke will beat Akeredolu in free & fair primary.

Ahead of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, the aspiration of the consensus candidate of the APC Unity Forum, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) to govern the state has received a major boost from members and leaders of the Association of Okada Riders popularly known as ACOMORAN as they have endorsed him as their preferred choice.

This is just as the Okada Riders who under the Ondo state APC lauded the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for upholding the Status quo on the mode of Direct primary in Edo state and also urged the national leadership to adopt the same direct primary system for the exercise slated for the July 20 Ondo state governorship primary.

Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the leader of Ondo state APC Motorcycle riders and owners (ACOMORAN) and Director-General of Ojasope Campaign Organization in Ondo state, Comrade Elekan Shola, said members of the association had already commenced mobilization across the 203 wards in the state for Chief Oke to actualise his ambition.

He added that Oke would defeat the incumbent Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in a free and fair direct primary system.

Elekan said, “we have endorsed Barr Olusola Oke, we laud the National Working Committee for upholding the Status quo on the mode of primary in Edo state and also appeal to the national working committee not to tamper with the already slated direct primary in Ondo state.

“Barr Olusola Oke (SAN) is a phenomenon in APC and thousands of Ondo state people from all political parties have shown interest to work with him if he emerges in the primary of APC.

“We (Okada riders) are the largest association in Ondo state and we have all agreed to pitch tent with him (Olusola Oke). He is a very popular candidate, for APC to retain Ondo state we need Barr Olusola Oke. We are 101% sure he will defeat the incumbent in a free and fair direct primary.

“There is a method that has already been established with respect to the mode of primary in each state, we implore the national working committee of APC to adopt the same of mode of primary.),” Elekan said.

According to the ACOMORAN Leader, “this method has been tried in the state before and it would possibly prevent an uproar from members of the APC .

“The principle is what has been done before, it is easy to repeat. The last primary that was done in Ondo state was direct (2019 general election), so it is easier to go by what the people are used to over there instead of starting something afresh with its challenges.

“Most of our new members want to participate in the election and they are constrained to apply for a waiver for those who can add significance to the party.

“The principle behind waiver is that anybody coming in to add value to the party either in terms of electoral votes or resources to deploy. Anybody that would make significant impacts would be given such an opportunity to strengthen the party.

“In Ogun, Lagos, Osun states (in 2019) direct method of primary were adopted, despite the frustration and challenges, APC emerges victorious. In Oyo where the indirect mode of the primary was adopted, APC lost out.

“We call on the national working committee to be a student of history and uphold the already organized direct mode of primary in Ondo state for the party to come out victorious in the upcoming guber election,” Shola Elekan concluded.
