A Member House of Representatives from Ekiti South Federal Constituency 11, Rt. Hon. Femi Bamisile, has started distributing large quantity of foodstuffs to the people of his constituency as part of palliative against COVID-19 especially in Ekiti state where lockdown is being experienced.
In a Press Statement, the lawmaker said the people are most vulnerable irrespective of their political affiliate would benefit from the relief materials meant to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive to contain the spread of the killer Coronavirus in the state.
The foodstuffs such as rice, semovita, beans, spaghetti, salt among others are being distributed to the people of Emure, Gboyin and Ekiti East local government areas
Bamisile popularly known as BAFEM, explained that the gesture became imperative at this critical time to provide food on their tables while also obeying the stay-at-home directive and other preventive measures put in place by the state government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
“Already two cases have been reported, one discharged and the other one confirmed yesterday in our dear state, Ekiti state, with the numbers of confirmed cases increasing everyday in our country Nigeria.
“I am using this medium to urge the good people of my Federal constituency Ekiti South Federal Constituency 11, Ekiti state people and Nigerians to stay healthy and obey health guidelines, observe basic hygiene and maintain the prescribed social distance as directed by government to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the pandemic is real.
“I urge my constituents and Ekiti state people to obey all guidelines put in place by the state government to contain the spreading of the virus, wash your hand regularly and stay at home,” Bamisile said.
“I will continue to work with other Legislators, the Government of Ekiti under Dr. Kayode Fayemi and other well meaning Ekiti people in ending the pandemic in our society,” the Reps member noted.
