The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2016 governorship election in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, has sympathised with those affected by an early morning explosion of explosive devise along Akure Owo road in Akure, Ondo state capital.
The blast, according to reports, occurred in the early hours of Saturday and destroyed property worth several millions of naira .
Jegede, in a statement he personally issued, expressed profound and deep sympathies with the citizens that sustained injuries in the explosion.
He said, “my thoughts are with those that are affected in the early hours explosion that occurred along Akure/ Owo road. This is a sad moment as the country is currently battling to control the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.
“This is an unfortunate incident. I send my profound and deep sympathies to those affected ,their families, and people of Ondo State,” Jegede said.
ONDO PDP COMMISERATES WITH VICTIMS
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has commiserated with victims of the unfortunate explosion that occurred along the Akure-Owo expressway in the early ours of Saturday, 28th March 2020.
The party in a statement by its Director of Publicity, Mr Zadok Akintoye prayed for everyone involved in the incident that God would strengthen them at this crucial time and give them the fortitude to bear this loss.
The party called on the Federal government to immediately begin the process of assisting the victims to enable them cope with their losses and for proper investigation to be done to ascertain the real cause and reasons for this unfortunate explosion, with the aim of mitigating recurrence.
The PDP appealed to citizens to abide by the instruction of government during this trying period of Covid19 pandemic by staying at home and called on the Ondo state government to quickly consider the plight of those whose houses were affected by this blast and who may at the moment be without comfortable places to live and speedily approve financial assistance towards speedy repairs or relocation.
