…….. IMAMS: IT’S A SIN TO GO AGAINST GOVT’S DIRECTIVES
The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has enjoined all residents of the Ondo state capital to comply with the directives of the Federal and State Governments on preventive measures such as washing of hands, avoiding overcrowded gatherings among other measures against coronavirus disease.
In a Statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye, the Akure Monarch also suspended indefinitely all public activities at the Deji’s palace as a result of the deadly disease, praying that Nigeria will soon defeat the disease.
Oba Aladetoyinbo directed all Heads of various markets (Iyalojas) to as a matter of urgency, provide hand sanitizers, buckets and liquid soaps for washing of hands in their various markets.
The Deji of Akure who appreciated efforts of government towards stopping the spread of coronavirus disease, prayed for the defeat of the virus in no distant time.
“The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, has observed with utmost interest, the rising wave of the coronavirus across the world.
“His Majesty wishes to appreciate the timely intervention of the Ondo State Governor at stemming the tide of a possible spread of the virus to Ondo State.
“Though, all the reported cases in Ondo State had tested negative, the efforts of the governor in ensuring a disease-free Ondo State cannot be over emphasized.
“His Majesty is also fully aware of the efforts of Government, through the taskforce headed by the Commissioner for Health and wishes to enjoin all residents of Akure to comply with the directives of the Federal and State Governments on preventive measures such as washing of hands, avoiding overcrowded gatherings among other measures.
“In strict adherence to the Government directives, the Palace has also taken temporary measures in the prevention of possible spread of Covid-19.”
The Statement says, “the palace wishes to announce a temporary suspension of all cases before it till further notice. This is to avoid overcrowding and large gathering of people in the Palace.
“His Majesty has also directed all Heads of various markets (Iyalojas’) to, as a matter of urgency, provide buckets and liquid soaps for washing of hands in their various markets. Hand sanitizers should also be made available where necessary.
“In addition, all Senior and Quarters Chiefs should ensure adequate compliance with this directive in all the markets within their jurisdictions.”
The Monarch noted that, “the Palace will continue to partner with the government and all relevant stakeholders in ensuring that all hands are on deck to deal with this epidemic.
“On the other hand, the palace wishes to advise anyone showing symptoms of Covid-19 to report to the nearest Government Health Institutions.
“However, His Majesty wishes to encourage all residents not to panic but to pray at this critical time, maintain good personal hygiene and observe all the measures being put in place by the Ministry of Health. His Majesty prays that this Covid-19 will be defeated in no distant time.”

The Chief Imam Of Owo & Chairman, League of Imams and Alfas, Ondo state, Alhaji Ahmad Aladesawe yesterday directed all Chief Imams in the state to comply with State Government’s ban on Religious activities in view of efforts to curtail the spread of the Virus in the state.
Alhaji Aladesawe in a statement personally issued by him noted that the on-going efforts of the Government and other stakeholders must be complemented by all.
According to him, the current outbreak of the Killer Virus requires the efforts of all and sundry for the battle to be won.
While Urging the Imams to be at the forefront of the crusade,the League Chairman urged the spiritual fathers to partner government in convincing the people on the reality of the virus.
He described disobedience to constituted Authorities as a great Sin in the sight of Allah as He had clearly mentioned in the Holy Qur’an that we must obey the constituted Authorities regardless of his or her faith.
He said the Qur’an had mentioned it since about two thousand years ago, how to handle a Killer disease such as the Coronavirus.
While saying that there is nothing bad to pray against the spread of any kind of diseases, the Chairman of the league Urged both Leaders and the lead to Hearking to useful tips coming from the health officials.
