ONDO: NBA narrowly Beats NUJ Pen Pushers in Novelty Match

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ Team) yesterday narrowly lost 1-0 to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA Akure Branch Team) in a highly entertaining Novelty football match.

The NBA team scored the lone goal in the second half of highly explosive match that was played at Ondo state Sports Complex, Akure.

The game was part of activities lined-up for the 2019 Bar Week of the Association.

Both teams paraded highly rated players like Dayo Akinlaja (SAN), Ondo state NUJ Chairman, Adetona Aderoboye during the match watched by many lawyers and journalists including a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Taofeeq Abdulsalam, former House Majority Leader, Hon Ademola; NBA Akure Branch Chairman, Dan Ola; former Chairman of Ondo state NUJ, James Sowole; NBA Team Manager, Olusola Oke among others.

Addressing NUJ players after the match, the NUJ Chairman, Adetona Aderoboye described the game as a friendly one that would continue to strengthen friendship among journalists and lawyers in the state.

Aderoboye who commended the sportsmanship of the Pen Pushers, said his Team lost the game to give the lawyers something to cheer about during the NBA Bar week celebration.

Speaking after the game, Dan Ola who expressed delight over his Team’s victory over the PEN PUSHERS, said the match was organized to foster virile relationship between members of the two key professional bodies.

The NBA Chairman said such Novelty football match that started last year, would continue in many years to come.

The two teams later relocated from the Akure township Stadium to the NUJ Press Centre for a light refreshment and stayed together for about three hours to share professional experiences.
