The Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, has revealed that some people believed he would not spend up to six months or one year on the throne of his forefathers.
The monarch who is also the Chairman of Ondo state Council of Obas, made this revelation on Thursday in a media chat with newsmen in his palace at Ode Ugbo as part of the activities lined up for his 10th coronation anniversary.
It would be recalled that his predecessor, Prince Adebanjo Mafimisebi who had earlier spent 18years on the throne, was deposed by the Supreme Court, declaring that it was the turn of the Akinruntan dynasty to produce Olugbo when Mafimisebi was wrongly installed.
After the judgement, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, was unanimously installed by Ugbo kingdom ten years ago.
Addressing newsmen the monarch who adorned with his adorable white royal regalia, a golden cap, muffler and pair of shoes, likened himself as King David, adding that he is a Christian, who dances, prays and fasts to God to overcome his life challenges.
“Some people thought I would not succeed more than six months or even at most one year on the throne (as Olugbo), believing on fetish means but I am not bothered because I am like biblical King David.
“Before I ascended the throne I knew that there would be challenges because I had seen for I am a prophet in a church. I am not bothered because we are bound to face challenges,” he stated.
“I am so happy to myself, dancing in my room, I praise God”, he said
Highlighting his achievements in the last 10 years, the Olugbo said that his people were happier than they were in time past
He disclosed that he had been giving financial and economical help to his people, reconstructing schools and his palace is one of his major achievement, adding that Ugbo had no befitting palace before he ascended the throne.
“The governor does not relent on bitumen exploration which will transform the economy of the state and he has not spent three years as a governor.
“And he quickly solves any obaship tussle issue in the state. I brought so much development to Ugbo. It’s a water logged area before but it was sand filled and people can build houses,” he said.

The 10th coronation anniversary is scheduled to hold from Thursday November 7 to Saturday November 9, which is the grand finale.
Present at the media chat were The Chairman, Ondo state House Committee on Health, Hon. Abiodun Faleye, the Oluyani of Iyani Akoko, Oba Joel Sunday Daudu, members of the Olugbo 10th coronation anniversary, chaired by Prince Omogbemi Blessing, representatives of the National Association of Ondo State Students and journalists.
