Ondo State Police command on Thursday launched full scale investigation into an alleged assault of an Assistant Pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Glory Tabernacle Parish, Ijapo Akure, Mrs Felicia Akindurotoye and another Parish Pastor Felix Solomon by a judge of Akure Division of Court of Appeal, Justice Folayemi Omoleye.

The incident occurred during a church Divine Encounter service on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the State Command, Mr Femi Joseph told SUNSHINETRUTH that officers of the command led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ijapo station, had visited the judge and questioned her about the incident.

An eyewitness said the serving judge, whose residence was located beside the church had allegedly entered into the church during a midweek Divine Encounter service and started video recording thereby disrupting the service, an act that led to uproar.

The alleged action of the judge was however challenged by the pastor and the injured assistant pastor, who queried her on why she is recording the church.

It was however, gathered that the judge had several times complained that the activities of the church had been constituting environmental pollution giving her sleeplessness night always.

The protest of the pastors and members of the church was said to have led to arguments and during which the judge slapped the 68 year old assistant pastor who got injured in the process.

“We were in a Divine Encounter service which normally holds on Wednesdays between 10 and 12 pm. The woman (judge) entered into the church and started recording the church’s activities.

”The judge slapped a 68yr old woman and one of the pastors, who tried to advise her not to disrupt the church service. When the woman fell down, the judge started beating the woman with her slippers. The woman got injured and was rushed to the hospital”,

Confirming the incident, Pastor Idris Umar of RCCG Region 22, Ondo, said the church had directed its lawyers to write a petition against the judge for her dishonourable action by slapping and beating a 68-year-old Assistant Pastor, Mrs Felicia Akindurojoye and another Parish Pastor Felix Solomon during the Wednesday’s Divine Encounter service.

“The woman was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital for treatment while Solomon didn’t sustain serious injury”, he said.

Umar said the petition would be forwarded to the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate the matter.
