As the Second term of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration started last week, the chairman, APC in Ondo State, Engineer Ade Adetimehin has vowed that leaders of the party from the state will be united to ensure that the state gets a key ministerial position.
The APC Chairman who lamented marginalisation of Ondo state in sharing of political offices at the federal level due to what he described as unnecessary face-off amongst the party’s chieftains in the last four years.
Adetimehin stated this recently at the APC State Secretariat in Akure when he met with some Online Journalists including the Editor of SUNSHINETRUTH.
Adetimehin said despite winning the state for APC, Ondo state got the lowest number of federal appointments in the Southwest zone since 2015, hence the need for APC leaders in the state to come together to fight for common interest of the Sunshine State.
It was reliably gathered by SUNSHINETRUTH that 99% of APC members are not happy with the choice of Professor Claudius Daramola (outgone minister of state for niger-Delta), accusing him of poor representation at the federal cabinet.
One of the party’s chieftains who preferred to speak anonymously told SUNSHINETRUTH that “did you see the minister during 2019 general election, he could even come down from Abuja to Ondo state to campaign for his boss (President Buhari). He should be dropped, nobody benefitted anything from him as a minister from our state”.
However, the APC State chairman disclosed that the party would be fully involved to determine who represents Ondo State in the next Federal Executive Council, FEC unlike in 2015 that the party was not involved.
Adetimehin said, “this time around, our party at the state level will be part of any decision on who becomes minister from this state. We deserve more than what we are getting, that is who am pleading with everybody, leaders, elders and office holders to work together for the good of our state and our people.”
He expressed worries that Ondo State known to be leading in holding key positions at the Federal Level, had been relegated in the last four years.
While answering questions, the APC chairman pointed out that factors responsible for such relegation had been addressed and that the party would determine those that would be appointed into federal positions.
He said “By the grace of God ,the party is going to play a major role to determine who becomes a minister and this time around ,we are going to take first.
“That’s why i insist that we must speak with one voice within APC because it pays. And you (media ) has a role to play. When we are trying to divide ourselves, please don’t join us”.
“I can assure you that the party is well positioned this time around and Ondo state is noted to be Number One in politics and we are going to get the best positions this time around” Adetimehin said.
