The lawmaker representing ondo central senatorial disctict, Senator Tayo Alasoadura has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his preference as the new chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum( NGF), and the landmark verdict today by the supreme court.
In a statement by his Media Aide, Dayo Joseph, Senator Alasoadura said “Fayemi’s victory is a demonstration of his colleagues’ confidence in his leadership qualities.
Alasoadura also congratulated him over his victory at the supreme court.
He said” By today’s victory, truth and justice have prevailed over manifest falsehood. It is a good sign that our democracy is on course and waxing stronger”.
Working closely with you during election campaign for the Governorship of Ekiti afforded me the opportunity to understand and appreciate your level of commitment to the Nigerian project.
Alasoadura urged Fayemi to use his office to build bridge of unity, peace and to promote inclusiveness in the country during his time as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum
He said ” I remain confident that under your leadership, Nigeria Governors Forum will achieve new heights for its prosperous development. It is my prayer that years ahead be filled with good health, strength, wisdom and greater success in your endeavors”.
In the meantime, Like Minds Ambassador Congratulates Fayemi on S’Court victory
A Group named as Like Minds Ambassador, on Friday commended the Supreme Court judgment that affirming the election of Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Kolapo Olusola-Eleka challenging the election of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Affirming Fayemi’s election, the five-man panel of the Supreme Court led by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad unanimously held that the appeal challenging the outcome of the poll lacked merit.
In a statement jointly signed by Group National Coordinator, Chief Bode Ajewole and South/West Coordinator, Engr. Akindele Ojo made available to the news men in Lagos said the judiciary still remains the hope for common
The statement further said that the judgment has shown that there were still men and women of good character in the judiciary.
‘‘This will serve as a deterrent to some people who can say whatever they like about the judiciary.
“We want to appeal to the petitioners to joining hands with the governor to develop and carry the state to the next level.
‘‘The business of the governor is tedious and the few months Fayemi has spent in the office, shows his capability and focus to take Ekiti to the next level.
The group also felicitated with Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on his emergence as the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum in the country.
The group said the people of Ekiti State are fortunate to produce the NGF Chairman, acknowledging that the governor will bring quality leadership to the forum.
According to them, “Fayemi as a proud Ekiti son, means well for his people as governor and has also edged his name in gold, as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The group called on all the governors to support the leadership of Fayemi, in ensuring that Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy. “Fayemi as the new NGF Chairman will be a team player, a consensus builder and a believer in open door policy and being an expert in peace building and conflict resolution, places him in the prime position to use the NGF platform to promote national unity at this critical period.”
Similarly, Ekiti state Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi has described the Supreme Court judgement which affirmed his election as victory for the rule of law and the people of Ekiti state
In a reaction the Governor noted that the Supreme Court decision had legally confirmed that he won the poll with majority of the lawful votes as declared by INEC.
He observed that the Apex court judgment has put an end to unnecessary distraction as he would now focus on governance..
Dr Fayemi said it was now clear that the election which brought him to power was never bought nor manipulated as alleged and thanked electorate in Ekiti State for their support so far.
The Governor promised to extend hands of fellowship to opposition particularly the PDP Governorship candidate stressing that the interest of the state was beyond partisan politics..
