The immediate Past Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has described the translated Olowo of Owo, Oba Victor Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi, as a monarch who loved his people dearly and brought remarkable development to his kingdom and respect to royalty.
Mimiko was among first callers to the Olowo Palace in Owo over the weekend where he commiserated with the chiefs and people of Owo.
Mimiko who led a delegation of political leaders and High Chiefs from across the State said he will forever remember the departed Olowo as a monarch who was majestic in truth and indeed.
The former governor who was received by Chief Jamiu Ekungba, Prince Adenekan Olagbegi other Omolowos and Omo Owas, as Owo princes are called, said the departed Olowo only transited as his good deeds are there forever as worthy legacies of his greatness.
The ex-governor said, “Oba Folagbade Olagbegi was majestic in his professional calling, he was majestic in his carriage, he was majestic in his leadership style and served God in his majesty with devoted humility. He was never mistaken in giving the ultimate honour to God as the king of kings and Lord of Lords”.
“I had cause to meet Kabiyesi on several occasions while in government, at all times, he always made requests for developmental initiatives for the kingdom. He never asked for anything for himself. It was always about Owo, Owo and Owo,” Mimiko noted.
He asked the people of Owo to sustain the peace that reigned in the era of the late Olowo as he prayed for a successor of like mind for the kingdom.
Chief Ekungba while welcoming Mimiko on behalf of the kingdom, asked him to prepare to be part of the funeral events. “You were seen as a friend of the kingdom by the departed Kabiyesi and indeed Owo people, you must be prepared to join us as we plan and execute his final rights”.
