Ekiti gets new Head of Service as Assembly suspends PDP lawmaker

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, today approved the appointment of Mr Ayodeji Ajayi as the new Head of Service.

This followed the recommendation of the Civil Service Transformation Strategy Committee after a rigorous selection process.

Mr Demi Ajayi, who is current Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, is to take over from the Acting Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode says the new Head of Service will be sworn in today.(Wednesday April 17, 2019.

Meanwhile, Governor Fayemi has applauded the Acting Head of Service, Mrs Peju babafemi for her diligence and professionalism which helped in stabilizing the government.

Mrs Babafemi will proceed on an overseas programme as a Senior Research Fellow in United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti Assembly House of Assembly has suspended former Deputy Speaker and member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr Segun Adewumi, for six weeks over alleged legislative misconduct.

The suspension of the the former Deputy Speaker, who represents Ekiti West constituency 1, was attributed to undue interruption of the speaker, Mr Adeniran Alagbada while presiding over the House sitting in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the Speaker, the lawmaker during the period on suspension will be prevented from participating in any plenary session, but could only involve in off- plenary activities of the house.
