Student’s Death in Akure: Police interrogate Female Teacher, May Charge her to Court

The Ondo state Police Command yesterday said the Force will charge a female teacher who allegedly sent the Head boy of ljo Mimo High School, Temitayo Oluwole, who fell from a mango tree on Saturday.

This is just as the teacher on Tuesday submitted herself to the Ala police station.

The command had on Monday said it would declare wanted the teacher, if she failed to report at the police station yesterday.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed to our Correspondent Tuesday said the physics teacher has reported at the police station and interrogated.

The PPRO however, said that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) of the command, disclosing that the teacher may be charged to court over the incident.

According to him, ” She has shown up at the station late last night and the Commissioner of Police has directed that the case should be transfered to the state CID.

” The teacher was supposed to be the guardian of the students in the schools and shouldnt have sent the boy on such a risky errand.

“This is the reason she is more culpable, her negligence caused what happened to the boy and that is dereliction of duty, we will do justice to the best of our ability”.

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Pastor Bode Adegoke, seemed to have resigned to fate, saying he had left everything to God on the matter.

He stated that the state ministry of education had agreed to take over the burial of the deceased.

Oluwole who was until his death, was the head boy of Ijo Mimo High School, Akure, was said to be preparing for his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, died as a result of complications after falling from a mango tree on the premises of the school last Saturday.

It was gathered that one of the teachers of the school, identified as Mrs. Kura, allegedly sent the deceased to go and pluck mango for her after a tutorial class.
