A leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State 2020 polls, Engr Ife Oyedele (FNSE) has tasked Christians to always show their neighbours love as demonstrated by Jesus Christ whose death and resurrection signify the celebration of Easter.
While felicitating with faithful in Ondo State and across the country on the occasion of Easter festival, Oyedele who is also the Executive Director (Engineering and Technical Services), Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, (NDPHC), explained that Christians should not only see Easter to be all about wining and dining, but should be used to emulate virtue of love which the teachings and life of Christ taught.
In a Press Statement by his media aide, Yomi Adebayo, Oyedele opined that “the Easter season which represents the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, should not only be about wining and dining, but should be seen by Christians as a time to reflect on the teachings and life of Christ who taught about loving our neighbours and also demonstrated this love by offering himself for the sin of the world.
The APC Stalwart also urged Christians to take the opportunity to offer supplication to God at this period when the world is being confronted with an unseen enemy.
“As Christians, it is not enough to read and listen to sermon about the exemplary life of Christ as documented in the Bible,” he said.
“It is very important to live out his greatest teaching which is loving our neighbours as ourselves. This trying times offer us another opportunity to prove that we are truly followers and believers of the teachings of Christ and it’s a call to us to reach out to people around us who have been affected by the COVID-19 lockdown and struggling to earn daily living.”
Oyedele added that his foundation had rolled out economic stimulus packages across Ondo State to give succour to households affected by the pandemic.
“On our part in the Ife Oyedele political family, we have rolled out food and cash palliatives targetted at 18,000 households across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown.
“It is our little way of living out the ‘love thy neighbour’ teaching of Jesus Christ and we call on others who have enough to share to do same in the little way they can,” the governorship hopeful said.
