YORUBA AFENIFERE YOUTH ORGANISATION OF NIGERIA (YAYON)
YAYON CALLS FOR JUSTICE OVER THE EXTRA JUDICIOUS KILLING OF “YORUBA” ISHEKIRI YOUTH WHILE DEMANDING THE MINISTER OF HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS, DISASTER MANAGEMENT & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT RESPECTS NIGERIA’S FEDERAL CHARACTER
YAYON the Apex umbrella of Yoruba youths condemns in totality the extra judicious killing that took place in warri, Delta state, killing one of our youths. It saddens our heart to confirm from multiple source the extra judicial killing exhibited by a yet to be identified nor punished member of the Nigerian armed forces is taking the military ages to fish out. We consider that the delay from the panel is making a mockery of the Nigerian Army gallantry.
Showing it’s lack of capacity to act swiftly and deal decisively. This rude shock and ugly development further position this country in the blacklist of topping the charts of country with high records of extra judicial killing.
We therefore urge the Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai as a man of the people, to expedite actions to ensure his men are not a menace to NIGERIA and the society at large. We believe that the gestapo approach and over zealousness exhibited by the army personnel would have been best for Sambisa forest.
At a point when the Nigeria army is yet to defend its hard earned reputation of being the best in Africa and winning global recognition as a result of the Boko haram insurgence amidst cases of banditry and insecurity now rampant. We expect the men of the Nigerian army to show restrains in dealing with civilians.
We want to reiterate that as youths we will not fold our hands and watch those who can no longer defend our territorial integrity and freedom from Boko haram terrorist continue to trample on innocent civilians. Justice must be served and seen to be duly served.
Furthermore we are concerned with the recent development which betrays the much respected speech of hope of Mr. President as exhibited by the Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development.
The action betrays the president’s position, body language and speech of belonging to nobody but for everybody. With deep concern, we are beginning to think that there may be a need to review the effect of coronavirus on government officials, in particular reference to the minister with the recent sectional attention she displayed.
In addition, as lovers of the oneness of this country, we consider the act of the “honorable minister” as an ATTACK on Nigerians and her geographical entity. We consider, that she rescind various statements credited to her, or risk our clarion call for Oodu’a republic.
It is shameful that there will be marginalization of Yorubas and other parts of the country in the disbursement of the #20,000 conditional cash transfer to poor homes in the country.
We are fully aware that this is not the position of the president, as the president as continuously portrayed himself as father of the nation, having sacrificed so much in the continuous unity of this country. We contend, that one out of many other “responsible ministers” cannot rent this nation apart.
More so, the ugly display of physical cash being dolled out under her ministry is one calling for serious concern. In a country where cashless policy is operational as well as a need to end corruption, one wonders how physical cash dolling can ensure strict compliance.
Perhaps, the “honorable minister” is unaware that BVN now exist in Nigeria. Which can enhance appropriate documentation of individuals benefiting from government coffers and chances of beating the system for multiple payment and several other challenges accompanied with her orthodixical method.
We reject analog ministers representing digital offices, we demand the accountability of billions of Naira meant for the the less privileged without any delay.
We equally make bold to challenge the restrictions to the North, as negating the principle of federal character. YAYON vehemently rejects this stands and calls for a total turn around. We seek for an all encompassing process and palliatives for all indigent Nigerians. Times are hard now and government must show it’s responsibleness to her citizens.
In conclusion, the Nigerian Army is hereby given a 72 hours ultimatum to ensure the prosecution of the erring officer and compensating the family of the deceased or we consider and declare the attack as an organised one to kill innocent citizens.
History has taught us some bitter lessons, we cannot afford to make. We stand firmly and resolute in demanding for justice.
Yoruba race will rise again!!!
