We’re Proud of Hosting Successful 1st Southwest Inter-Clubs Table Tennis Tourney —Club Elan President

The President of Club Elan, Alagbaka, Akure in Ondo State, Elano Tokunbo Agbetuyi, has expressed delight that the club successfully hosted the 1st Club Elan/SOWSCO Table Tennis tournament where some Social and Recreation Clubs from the southwest zone participated.

Agbetuyi stated this at the Grand Finale And Dinner Nite to round-off the Table Tennis tournament.

Five Clubs Participated in different categories (Inter and Intra Club games), Ondo State Senior Staff Club team was led to the tournament arena by its president, Mr Oluwatuyi while the President, Ado Inland club from Ekiti state also took part in the tournament.

Other clubs that took part in the inter club competition, were Ibadan Tennis Club from Oyo state and AKURE Recreation Club.

Some of the members of the Club Elan, Akure who also displayed their skills during the tournament at both Division 1, Division 2 and Veteran categories included; Elano Agbetuyi Tokunbo (President), Elano (PA) Adewa Adewoye, Elano (Justice) Adebusoye Gboyega, Elano (Otunba) Odusanya Soji, Elano Owolabi Jide and Elano Dapo Iwala.

Other participants included, Elano Toba Johnson, Elano Ogunro Kayode(Vice President), Elano(Hon) Akinjomo (Director General, Club support services), the National Vice Chairman of the PDP (Southwest), Elano (Dr) Eddy Olafeso, Elano Ogunsuyi Charles, Elano Yomi Seriki, Elano Adeloye Adetomiwa and Elano Ademola Adesida among others.

Addressing guests and participants at colourful ceremony held at the Premises of the Club in Akure, the Club Elan President, Tokunbo Agbetuyi said the club put together the competition as part of the essence of establishing it.

Agbetuyi noted that Club Elan in collaboration with SOWSCO Wells Services Nig LTD decided to organise the 5days competition as part of social and corporate responsibilities which were consciously made to enlighten and encourage people on physical activities, sporting involvement and investment in human health to prevent ailments and reduce avoidable health challenges.

The Club Elan President pointed out that the tournament was also targeted at fostering intra and inter social clubs as well as human relationship which was a key element in achieving career and organization successes.

Agbetuyi while speaking on the tournament, appreciated the gesture of the collaborating sponsor for thoughtful investment to humanity.

Also Speaking at the event, the Director of Sports of the club, Elano (Prince) Adeyinka Adedire who coordinated the organization of the tournament, explained that the need to be physically active as one ages was one of the major reasons for organising the tournament.

He added that opportunistic ailments in association with ageing could be deterred with regular and monitored/regulated physical activities.

Elano Adedire, who is also a medical expert, appreciated the Patron of the Club, Engr Emmanuel Adewumi, executive members, past president’s and all members of the club for the energies deployed in ensuring that the tournament was successful.

The Sports Director who lauded the effort of the State government for investing so much political will in the area of sports, commended the Presidents of the four invited Clubs and their teams.

Adedire particularly expressed satisfaction with the conscious effort of the wife of the Ondo state governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu at encouraging and exposing the young ones to physical activities that would benefit them, their families, State and the country at large.
