It was just like a nollywood movie on Thursday morning at Alagbaka area of Akure, the Ondo state capital when the Paymaster of the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Abiodun was allegedly accosted by armed robbers to snatch a sum of money running to half a million naira at the gunpoint.
SunshineTruth learnt that the incident occurred few minutes after similar incident occurred at the Anglican Church’s office at Alagbaka where the Bursar, Mr Gabriel Abiodun was shot dead and a sum of #500,000 he withdrew from a commercial bank was taken away.
The two scenes are less than two kilometers to each other at Alagbaka.
An eyewitness who preferred to speak on the condition of anonymity, said the Paymaster could not explain how the incident happened to him.
A reliable source told SunshineTruth that the ministry is working to cover up the incident for what is described fear of victimisation or punishment by the constituted authorities, while Paymaster is lucky from being injured.
The source said, “It is a very strange film, the hoodlums trailed him (Paymaster) from the bank in a vehicle and accosted him at the gate of the ministry where he was dispossessed of the cash meant to pay some bills at the ministry”.
What is yet to be ascertained is the fact that may be the same robbery gang carried out the two operations on Thursday.
When Contacted, the State police spokesman, Femi Joseph said the incident would be investigated to ascertain the true picture of things.
The PPRO however warned people against going to bank to cash huge sum of money without police escort.
